Bansi Kaul

Based in Bhopal, India, Bansi Kaul is a theatre directer and designer and art film director. Bansi has been visualiser of many major cultural events in India and abroad. He has experimented in his theatrical work by playing with form, colour and sound. His theatre group Rang Vidushak are known for their theatre of clown, projecting 'laughter as a vocal protest' through which they 'became a group of collective celebrants'.

Bansi has worked with Melange Network associates in Bangladesh and UK. His recent work has included directing Festivals of India in Bhutan and Moscow, regional festivals in Gujarat and Delhi, and a major 70-person performance for India's participation in the Frankfurt International Book Fair. India was the 'guest of honour' featured country at the 2006 Fair.

In 2007 he was back in Germany. leading a large Indian performance for the opening ceremony of the International Trade Fair in Berlin. This is being immediately followed by a visit to Pakistan for a Lahore Theatre Festival with his theatre group Rang Vidushak. Bansi will be in South East England working on the development project for local melas funded by Arts Council England South East and also contributing to the Cultural Leadership Programme for UK melas.
